Interview Questions to Ask Your Buyer's Agent

Choosing your Buyer's agent is an important decision.  This is the person you will trust with one of the largest purchases you will make in your lifetime.  This person should be knowledgeable, trustworthy, experienced and work hard to protect you legally within the boundaries of the contracts.  I encourage you to interview with the important questions below.

  1. Why did you become a real estate agent? Why should I work with you?

  2. Are you an individual agent, or part of a team?  Will I be talking with you the whole time, or will my purchase be handled by various team members?

  3. Are you a full-time agent or do you have another job?  Can I reach you on evenings or weekends too?  What was your individual sales volume last year (not team volume)?

  4. What do you do better than other real estate agents?

  5. What process will you use to help me find the right home for my particular wants and needs? Do you regularly do a buyer consultation up front to set expectations, determine needs, and answer questions?

  6. Are you able to do Zoom showings if we are not in town?

  7. What are the most common things that go wrong in a transaction and how would you handle them?

  8. What other professionals do you suggest we work with, and what are their credentials?

  9. Can you provide me with references or testimonials from past clients?

  10. Tell me briefly about the market right now and what you do to help buyers get an offer accepted in a multiple offer situation.
